Today, on Tuesday 16th July, Jess Oliver and Charley Harris, aka Team Wild Waves, achieved their second ocean rowing world record by completing World's Toughest Row - Pacific 2024 in an incredible time of 37 days, 11 hours, 43 minutes. In doing so, they beat Liz & Lena (still to finish), just hours behind, in what has been a very close contest in ocean rowing. Both teams, rowing in their R25s, have shown how close a race can be over many hours, days and weeks.
Jess & Charley's new world record is in addition to the world record they set in 2022 on the Atlantic. Their success in ocean rowing deserves real credit.
Rannoch's founder and coach for Wild Waves, Charlie Pitcher, commented:
"I've been working with Jess & Charley for several years now and they never fail to deliver. Their team spirit is second to none - I've never seen anything like it. Their determination, teamwork and ability to focus on the job is exemplary. They will go on and win other competitions for sure."
Jess and Charley were supported by Charlie and Andrew Cape as part of their weather routing and strategy for this race, which helped them optimise their performance and direction throughout the ocean row.
Congratulations Jess & Charley!
