Today marks 11 years to the day that first ever boat ‘JJ’ logged 102.5 NM over a 24 hour period on her way to winning the Atlantic Rowing Race in 2009.
Charlie and JJ beat the entire fleet to win the race in 52 days, 6 hours and 47 minutes.
Andrew Brown then set the solo world record in her the following year.
It was JJ that inspired Charlie to make ocean rowing accessible to others and he then went on to smash the solo world record in 2013 with his second boat, ‘Soma’!
