Roxy’s final expedition for the summer!
A bittersweet moment for the boat, as she faithfully carried the last crew, rowing her out of Copenhagen. They headed south along the Danish coastline, rowing nonstop through the night and into the next day, with fair winds. In the evening the crew found themselves in turquoise-green water, an effect of sediment eroding off the stunning white cliffs of southern Denmark. Sunset cast a dusky hue on the cliffs as they loomed into view, then faded away into the horizon as the crew struck out south into open water for Germany.
A solid effort by the crew, but headwinds on the route to Germany forced them to turn around and beat tracks back to Denmark on the evening of the second day. Riding tailwinds now, rowers were in good spirits despite the retreat, and a magical night ensued: starscapes and moonrise, surreal music, ethereal lighthouses in the dark, and conversation as deep as the Baltic Sea.
Sunrise found Roxy riding north along the now-familiar Danish coastline, and docked at the town of Køge in the early afternoon. Happy with the trip and our rowing ship, with friendships made through the magic of Roxy, the crew parted ways already making plans for their next adventure.
